New Courses for 2014

  
 Arts on Prescription are back with
new courses as well as old favourites starting in the New Year!

Here is the full list of all the courses we are running in the New Year from January 2014 to July 2014. If you want to do one of these just get in touch:

All our courses are suitable for complete beginners and open to people who haven’t already been on an Arts on Prescription course before.
 
At the moment you can only come along and do a course once, so you need to choose the one which suits you best. If you need any help just call, text or email us.


Creative Journaling


12 week course

This course uses a mix of creative writing and art techniques to make your own very personal and visually pleasing book.
You will learn basic bookbinding techniques, how to distress and alter images, how to sew photographs into pages and creative lettering.
This journal will be your own project and you can choose to make a photo-journal or a book of poems or even a collection of favourite stories.

Creative Cookery  - Around the world in 10 dishes

10 week course

Ever fancied yourself as the next Nigella or Jamie Oliver, but never had the chance to learn how to cook dishes from around the world?
Or maybe you feel as though your cookery skills could be improved upon, but don’t know where to begin?
Then this is the course for you, you will be taken on a journey around the world learning how to cook popular one pot dishes from scratch with the help of a cookery tutor.
What’s more, you can then take the meal home and enjoy a scrumptious tea!

Creative Photography  - Making Pictures with a Camera

12 week course

Explore how we see the world around us; look at the ordinary in new ways.
You can use your Smartphone (if you have one) or our film cameras and you will even get the chance to learn how to develop your own black and white film – no darkroom needed!
Then make your images into books, posters, cards, blogs or whatever you like.

Exploring Arts and Crafts

12 week course

BACK BY POPULAR DEMAND
Tutors: Karen Alderson, Anita Burrows, Beverley Chapelhow and Karen Redmayne

This course is designed to let you try a bit of everything on offer through Arts on Prescription. It’s ideal if you have read this brochure and wanted to try every single course. You will cover glassmaking, printing, sculpting and textiles and each topic is taught by an expert.
You will be taught by 4 different tutors over the 12 week course.
During the other sessions you will get to try making paper, printing using a printing press, creating patterns, making felted jewellery, wire and plastic bead making, appliqué, transfers onto fabric and other sewing techniques, card making, basic bookbinding and using simple glassmaking techniques to make key-rings and coasters.
This course is suitable for complete beginners and we recommend this course if you are unsure which course suits you.

Fused Glass

12 week course

You will learn how to design, cut and make fused glass key rings, coasters and bowls.
You will learn various glass techniques such as painting on glass and produce high quality work.
Your pieces will be fired after each session and returned.
This course is suitable for complete beginners but book fast, our glass courses are incredibly popular and fill up quickly.
Maybe we are all a bit like magpies and just like shiny things!
