This week we have David...

We are continuing our series of student stories and this week we meet David...

David 76, found Arts on Prescription helped him meet new people and would recommend to anyone with Depression...

After retiring from work David decided to enrol at his local college to study an AS Level in Fine Art as he'd always had an interest in the subject. However due to his wife’s ill health David took the decision to leave the course as it wasn’t a convenient time for him to be attending.

During this period he felt he had lost some of his confidence and although he had tried other arts courses in the past none were really for him.

David had depression when he came across Arts on Prescription, he decided he wanted to try art again and booked himself on to the drawing course. The tutor helped him with his confidence to get drawing again and was really pleased with the work he produced. The course helped him get out of the house and mixing with new people.

‘The course really got me going again and I would recommend it to anybody, especially those with depression’.

After Arts on Prescription David went on to join another local art class and has recently enrolled on an art programme at Burnley College.

‘Arts on Prescription was better than I expected, I had tried other courses but always came away quite frustrated. The 10 weeks I spent with Arts on Prescription really helped my confidence’.

Thanks for reading,

Carmela
